Last night I attended a webinar hosted by BSAC on their 2019 diving incidents report. This is produced annually and reports produced since 2012 are downloadable. The presentation was professional and thought provoking. Despite the obvious differences there are many similarities between what we do and open water diving. The discussion last night concentrated on human error which is a common factor in many incidents in many potentially hazardous activities; I certainly learned some things that have prompted further updating of my skills.
The reports are available here.
I would like to thank BSAC for making this presentation available to all, not just their members. It's a brave thing to open up about incidents that could provoke personal ridicule, but I believe this is vital to ensure lessons are remembered and handed down to the next generation.
