About the Somerset Section

The CDG’s origins can be traced back to the 1930s in the Mendip hills of England where the first recorded cave dive was made in Wookey Hole.

The Somerset Section of the CDG welcome prospective members & hold meeting’s every 2 months with organised caving/cave diving group activities held during the day. Members typically belong to the following Mendip based caving clubs: The Wessex Caving Club , Bristol Exploration Club, Shepton Mallet Caving Club  & are active in cave exploration both in the UK & Europe. Successful applications for membership of the Somerset Section will come from competent and active cavers.
