Editorial
As always, thank you to the contributors for submitting dive logs and articles to this Newsletter.
As you will probably already know, over the last few months the Group’s activities have been overshadowed by the sudden loss of our president, Geoff Yeadon. There has been a huge outpouring of tributes both to the achievements and the humanity of the man, which I am pleased to include in this bumper edition of the newsletter. I joined as the glory years of Keld Head were drawing to a close so I knew Geoff more as a northern caver who came with an impressive background, though his personal warmth was always evident.
The number of diving reports included in this issue is indicative of strong interest in cave diving, particularly from some of the newer members. This requires not only enthusiastic new divers, but also support from the more experienced QDs. The relatively large turnout for the 2026 AGM (compared to other recent AGMs) is promising great things for the future. The Group appears healthy and we, the members, can look on this as a job well done, so far.
Please continue to submit diving logs, articles, top tips, book reviews and changes to diving status via newslettereditor@cavedivinggroup.org.uk or Section secretaries. The deadline for the October 2026 Newsletter is 1 September 2026. Safe diving.
