CDG Newsletter Issue 222 – January 2022

|CDG Newsletter Issue 222 – January 2022

Editorial

Happy New Year and thank you as always to the many contributors who have submitted dive logs and articles. John Cordingley's proof-reading task has been made somewhat harder for this Newsletter due to my contracting Covid whilst pulling it all together. Most will now be aware that George Linnane our Distribution Officer was the subject of a protracted rescue from Ogof Ffynnon Ddu in November 2021 and we wish him a quick and full recovery. I believe that the humorous "get well" cards sent by the Northern and Welsh Sections were well received although unlikely to provide the Group with any commercial opportunities! With George still recovering, Jason Mallinson has stepped in to ensure that this Newsletter and your membership card arrives in January; many thanks.

In addition to a wide range of diving logs, this issue contains a report into the factors thought to have contributed to the death of Simon Halliday in Lancaster Hole. Jason outlines the details of his investigation and provides recommendations which will be of interest to the majority of the Group. Plans for the forthcoming AGM in Ingleton are included with further information coming out via Section Secretaries soon. Please be aware that access arrangements have changed for a number of diving sites and these can be found towards the back of this Newsletter and within the Otters Cave report.

Finally, please continue to send me your diving logs, articles, top tips and changes to QD status or Section Secretaries. The deadline for the April 2022 Newsletter is 1 March. Safe diving.
