Mask kicked off
Incident Date
1906-10-06
Incident Description
Two divers entered Joint hole in good conditions. However in the boulder choke between sumps 3 and 4 the diver B came too close to the fins of diver A and the mask and regulator were kicked off/out from diver B. The mask was retained on the divers head by his helmet and the reg was neck tied. Fortunately these were regained without incident and the dive continued without further incident.
Lessons Learned
Keep a safe distance between divers. Practice reg recovery and mask clearing. If abroad consider carrying a spare mask if diving without a helmet (to hold it in place).
