Good conditions in LNRC today;

Sump 1: Line is perfectly serviceable

Sump 2: Ok but broke on exiting far side of sump so quick repair made

Sump 3: Badly broken a few metres from entry and multiple patches of old line throughout sump, temporary thin line put in today through whole sump and removed to allow transit

Sump 4: OK

So anybody planning a trip needs to take a reel to get through sump 3 (will measure what I used tomorrow)

65m of line is ample to get through sump 3  from the original line starting/ ending points (pendants on roof well above water level) I used mainly wrap belays so this includes some length for these.

Sump 1 had the rescue line running through it, looked ok. There was some black cable about halfway to sump 2, some of it looked like it had purposefully been laid through a dry section where the stream gets low and easier progress is had by staying to the right and climbing over some rocks before rejoining the stream. Didn't look like it was in any danger of making its way further. No wire seen in 2,3 or 4 but lots of other random lines present above and below water.

We (Mike Butcher & Myself) thought we had reached sump 7 when in actual fact we had only reached sump 5 so will be going back at some point to the see the rest so will probably have a tidy up unless the training camp gets there first !

Back in the late 80,s John Breakspear and a team planned to have a go at the end and push. To this goal they laid a communication cable from the surface to New World chamber and set up a camp . A lot of it was left behind! I tended to dive with wire cutters and try and remove what we found.
