A pretty good 3m vis in Hurtle today, definitely worth a dive. The line downstream is in a shocking state and need sorting - lots of loose line everywhere and the line is missing through the choke. Will try to sort next weekend when I have some proper line with me!

All in flood now I'm afraid.

Quick update Friday morning (6th) - mainly to modify some info I sent to MJ but possibly of interest to others. Although Dales rivers were in flood a couple of days ago they are now a lot lower. The water at Clapham Beck Head is rather less peat stained than one might expect. If there's no significant rain before Saturday then the water may not be quite as murky, generally, as it would normally be after the wet few days earlier this week.

Thursday 19th April - the Ribble in Settle looked very gloomy today; peat stained and well under a metre vis.

Relined a lot of Downstream Hurtle over the weekend - new line installed from the entrance to half way down the main Midge passage. I've also stripped a lot of the old line out, but there is still a lot more in there.

I lost my knife while doing this, so was unable to cut some of the thick srt rope in there (my snips couldn't cut it!), so the old line is somewhat unbelayed - its fairly tidy, but may be a bit loose so be careful. There is also a tacklebag with 50m of dead rope somewhere near Giant Haddock Hall - I was unable to remove it due to not being able to cut the line and running low on gas. Its pretty well secured, but may spill its content if it floods badly before I can remove it. Hopefully tidy everything up this weekend if the weather plays ball.

Oh, and if anybody is interested, the vis was a reasonable 2m.
